<p>The Senior Designer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
A. Engineering Design
• Use of 2D and/or 3D CAD software in design.
• Participate and support engineers on product design and development, including associated activities of:
design modelling and layouts.
creating and maintaining the product lifecycle management in the engineering database system.
• Prepare machine detail and basic/general arrangement layout drawings to ASME Y14.5 standards and format and documentation which meets GE engineering policy and procedures to enable the manufacturing & production group and other departments to produce and market the Company's product.
• Create and/or modify 3D models and drawings to manufacturing standards for Pro-NC manufacture/Model Based Design utilizing company protocols and parametric practices.
• Maintain the accuracy of native files in the product lifecycle management system.
• Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, simple calculations for basic design verification purposes.
• Identifying and assess hazards & specify actions to control risks to people & environment.
B. Engineering Design
• Determine dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities.
• Aware of and ensure the efficient implementation of common feature processes.
• Support engineering test programs, equipment tests and shop floor build programs (FAT/SIT) through hands-on shop floor involvement and document results.
• Assist in carrying out investigation on complaint items or product failures.
• Identify improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
• Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: Tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, intermediate failure analysis, design reviews, intermediate calculations for design Verification purposes.
• Participate with the customer in undertaking these reviews and gain acceptance for Design Specification/ Basis.
• Perform intermediate calculations through documentation process such as DVP, simple change document. Undertake design verification to establish a full Design Verification Package to satisfy the verification plan. Ensure Design Verification Package has third party or independent review as appropriate.
• Develop conceptual design requirements for customer and undertake concept design reviews where appropriate.
• Participate with the customer in undertaking these reviews and gain acceptance for Design Specification/ Basis.
• Aware of Value Engineering/Analysis initiatives and ensure the efficient implementation of common feature processes.
• Investigate, evaluate and recommend disposition on non-conforming production items through the 'Global Rejection reports' GRR/GRV.
• Participate in field trips to assist in the installation, operation and/or trouble shooting of GE Oil & Gas supplied equipment.
C. Develop, Specify and Agree Deliverables for Design Activities
• Participate in design and value engineering reviews.
• Provide technical support to mainly internal customers.
D. Planning Design Activities
• Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with suppliers and revenue sharing partners establishing a robust planning & organization process with clear understanding of the schedule & prioritization for the assigned design duties & activities.
• Concurrently manage multiple projects monitoring progress and quality and ensure schedule requirements are met.
• Secure and verify any additional design resources necessary to execute the work. In doing so shall monitor the progress of such work through to successful completion.
• Able to mentor and assist in the development of talent for drafters/designers.</p>

<p>• Associate’s Degree in engineering, design, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of engineering drawing and familiarity with CAD software. Knowledge of Creo software will be an advantage.
• Established 5 yrs experience with 2D & 3D drafting and modeling software in an engineering/industrial environment.
• Familiar with relevant international/industry standards and codes for area of work.
• Awarenes of materials, including welding and heat treatment of metals and elastomers.
• Awareness of relevant manufacturing processes.</p>
